Eyewitness Details Instant That 'Monster' Struck Northern Manchester Synagogue
A person involved in securing a Jewish temple in northern Manchester has recounted how a tragic incident occurred, leading to the demise of two British Jews.
On Thursday morning, the survivor was within the local synagogue when a perpetrator crashed into and stabbed members coming together for a service to commemorate a significant religious event.
The witness stated that the 'monster' individual sought to break down the entrances of the place of worship, and he described securing the facility with additional attendees.
The victims, in their 50s and 60s died in the incident on Thursday, while several more were hurt while attempting to defend others.
Survivor Testimony of the Incident
The individual, who serves as a Chair of the Trustees at the house of worship, described reinforcing the entry points and stated that the perpetrator used sharp objects and outdoor items to try to get in.
I witnessed a terrifying individual shoulder charge against the entrance, trying to bash them down with a knife in his hand," he shared with reporters.
The sole statement that was audible was him saying 'this is what you're going to get for killing our children'.
That was all he expressed. And we were within the synagogue and we were repeating 'we are not letting this man in'.
"He was a deranged, evil monster."
Ceremony Conducted for Individual
The comments coincided with hundreds of people took part in the ceremony for Mr Cravitz.
Relatives, attendees from the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation along with the community rabbi, and members of the broader community came together in the local area to honor the deceased.
Attendees occupied the burial ground, with several gathering in the open the ceremony space in the rain, following the ceremony and tribute over audio systems.
In a message shared on Friday, the victim's loved ones expressed that he was always willing to assist.
Authorities Inquiry and Detentions
Local authorities reported that Mr Daulby was likely hit by police gunfire as they neutralized the perpetrator shortly after the incident was reported.
He, who was hailed by his family as a "brave individual", was present at a ceremony at the synagogue when the violence began.
He had been a dear family member, devoted uncle to his several nieces and a nephew and a valued relative," his family added.
Relatives are shocked by the tragic, sudden death of such a lovely down to earth man.
His last actions demonstrated great bravery and he will forever be remembered for his heroic act."
Several arrests took place in regarding the incident, and police indicated that four people remained in custody on Sunday morning.
Each of them were arrested on suspicion of terrorism-related activities.
The suspects are two men, aged 30 and 32 and apprehended nearby; a female in her 60s apprehended in the area; and a middle-aged female arrested in Farnworth.
Two additional individuals were freed with no further action, police reported on Saturday.
